Discover yourself

Discovering our true selves, our identity, is the purpose of education. Education that only provides common knowledge and basic skills, is bereft of self discovery. However, self discovery is the great satya (truth) and the very tool that has the power to unearth the gold mine within you.

A famous philosopher once said, “Truth may or may not make us rich, but it will certainly set us free!” And only a truly free person can be an original thinker. Hence, the original thinker is comfortable discovering factual principles which are independent, beyond prejudice or boundaries, and not bound by time - such an exploration can help one grow beyond limits.

FOUR PURUSHARTHAS

Often in today's world, many psychologists and philosophers emphasize the below realities as isolated truths:

  • Virtue centric life

  • Power centric life

  • Pleasure centric life

  • Purpose centric life

The Hindu philosophy, however, foundationally agrees with all four concepts and unifies them as the four purusharthas (gains), namely:

  • Dharma

  • Artha

  • Kama

  • Moksha

Dharma is virtue, but also has a greater depth in its application.

Artha is power and resources, but also emblems meaningfulness and prosperity.

Kama is all dharmik desires, including appropriate sensual enjoyment.

Moksha is the ultimate freedom.

Although these aspects of life may seem contradictory to each other, they are integrated in vedic culture.

PANCHA KOSHA

Our personalities consist of different layers, just like a coconut. When we peel a coconut, we discover five layers: the outer green cover, the brown fiber, the hard shell, the pulp and the water. Similarly, living beings are covered by five koshas:

1. Anna maya kosha (Physical development)

2. Prana maya kosha (Emotional development)

3. Mano maya kosha (Mental development)

4. Vijnana maya kosha (Intellectual development)

5. Ananda maya kosha (Spiritual development)

The word Kosha, can be translated as covering, or embracing; interestingly, it also means treasure.

Pancha Kosha growth is the process of integrating the five koshas for self growth.

The development chart according to the Indian thought process is focused on the holistic development of an individual. The Panchkosh system was formulated to keep integration as the basis; it begins with the development of the gross body and gradually progresses to the subtle factors.

Therefore, at Dravyya Yagna we share the process of integrated growth based on solutions which harmonize modern and traditional concepts including psychology, astrology and the principles of the Gita.
